Personality/History:
In life, Adeline was a cruel but loyal woman. She spent most of her time playing with her younger brother Louis. She would often say mean hurtful things and bully him when she did not get her way, but if someone else looked at him wrong she was right there ready to beat someone down. She did not ever care that she was a little girl.
Something was always off about Adeline, her parents blamed it on a fever she suffered as an infant. She would sometimes stare off into space and speak to 'fairies' It was only Louis that could bring her out of it. She always knew when her baby brother was in danger.
At 14, she was married off to a local merchant. He was a disgusting man who she was repulsed by, but her father sold her off and gave her no choice. She and Louis were torn apart, and within the year she was unhappily with child. Five years into an unhappy marriage, she contracted Saint Vitus's Dance Her husband could not get anyone to treat her, and she wandered off into the woods to never be seen again.
Louis struck out, wanting his sister found when he realized some time later she was missing. Her husband was beheaded, and her child observed into the household.
At night, as she danced, she had caught the eye of a Malkavian Prankster with wild curls and bright-green eyes. He had made a bet with his Brujah lover, that they could turn the DiVigny kids and none would be the wiser. Though he quickly felt for the beauty of his charge, he turned her with a blessing and left Gina to train his new lover.
Her sire, Melanthios was much too taken by her charms and she was all too happy to learn and be with a handsome man, but every morning when they laid down to sleep she would wail for her brother in despair. Feeling Louis could save her from this curse. This new lover for blood. Melanthios taught her well and made her strong, warning her to never share her blood with another or drink the blood of another, least she binds them, or they bound her.
As time passed, she heard tales from London… of a wild man, a party goer who was into Opium Orgies, the man intrigued her, and it was only when she heard his name that she struck out at Melanthios, it was her baby brother. Louis was still alive! And so much time had passed, Melanthios forbade her from going to Louis, so she tricked him into drinking her blood and made him take her to London.
… but she had just missed Louis. He was gone. And she lost track of him.
She was so furious at Melanthios that she lashed out at him, tearing out his throat and giggling as she watched him choke, sputter and die. She left his corpse, taking all of his money and heading back to France where she started tormenting villages, hanging with sabbat packs and looking for 'her husband.'
She did not know that her husband was dead, and seemed to forget that she killed Melanthios. So she would find families of Merchants and slaughter the family, taking the men by force. She did this all of six times. Five of six times the man was dead within a season, always suicide.
Then she met Maria. It was 1680, and she was enchanted by Maria's beauty. Maria convinced her to cast out her name. And become anew, and thus Phoebe was born. Maria was a new blood but enchanting and the two women spilled blood as they crossed Europe together heading towards the America's after third 'husband' whom they shared for the month he was a kindred ran into the sun.
When she reached America, her and Maria started to establish themselves a little life in Boston. Traveling the new world searching for excitement. It was in 1730 that she was reunited with Louis, a silly boy using a new name. But she found him, and she refused to lose him again, so she blood bonded him so he could not run. Introducing him to Maria, she had high hopes of a little vampire marriage there. Not too high, Maria was a whore in life, and did much the same in death.
In 1740, she met another man, lather rinse repeat. Only this time Louis, now Matthew, saw it. There was little that could be done. And in 1767 yet again, this one was worse. This man set himself on fire and ran after her in hopes of killing her. Maria nearly got killed to save Phoebe.
The three went their ways for a decade or so, Maria and Phoebe meeting again in 1787 and started following a small theater trope, amused by them. It was when Mathew returned a year later that Phoebe felt hopelessly for yet another Merchant. This one who had hair and eyes like Melanthios, he was tall and already pale and most importantly. Openly affectionate to his all too lovely wife. She had been tickled pink when she heard the wife speak his name; Dorian. Melanthios' name had been from the Odyssey, and she knew this man's name had to be too. Clearly this was a sign from Caine himself that this man was hers, he just did not know it yet. When Matthew departed the next evening, Maria and her made haste, slaughtering Rodrick Van Tassle to get the address of the pretty couple, and followed them all the way to Tarrytown, a half day travel away.
When they arrived, Maria slept with the magistrate to get information and a place to hide them, Phoebe promising the man that his Son in law's land and fortune would be his if he could stomach losing his child. He did not care in the least, and promised them protection if they both kept his company when he felt it.
If Mathew was there, history has lost it.
Later that night, with the Van Tassel's promise Phoebe and Maria struck.
The first task was to keep the man asleep, the moment they had opened the door the man had sat up reaching for a pistol near the bed. Maria dominated his and his wife's minds to make them pass back out and remain asleep. Then they went and started their work. Maria went for the children and was more merciful. Phoebe went after the teen girls, tearing ones eyes out and keeping them.
She had been disappointed with the skills of the last failed husband in bed, so she chooses to test this one. After strangling his wife, she let Maria bring him out of his slumber and under the trick of making him think it was his wife, she… test drove him. As soon as she was finished she leaned down and whispered "how does it feel to bed another woman next to your wife's corpse." before climbing off him, gathering his clothes and walking out. Maria, who had been watching from the hall, followed her. As the man panicked.
From the room the Magistrate provided, they watched her new victim get dragged down the street in shackles, sobbing. It brought such joy to her heart watching him break. As the month passed, she would peak in on the cell, watching him stare at the walls. She had been asleep when the funeral happened, but after that day she could see he was nearly ready. His mirror was shattering, it was beautiful to her.
The night before his execution, she broke into the jail with Maria and two ghouls, she drained the broken man nearly to the point of death before making the ghouls carry him out. She followed, singing in French, fingers laced with Maria's. She knew this would be her final husband. This one would last.
Over the next few nights ride to Boston, she kept draining him, laying at his side, tapping the beat of his heart, making fun of how he refused to die despite the fact death was warming over. Slipping him enough Vitae to keep him from looking like a corpse and to get him addicted to her blood. It was finally on the third night that the carriage stopped, and her ghouls dug a deep hole. She embraced him there in the back of the carriage, watching the way his body writhed with glee. The change was hard on him. As soon as she realized it was taking, she made the ghouls dump him in the shallow grave and bury him. She spent the rest of the night sitting on the grave singing, happily waiting for him to dig his way free. Once he had broken the surface, she shoved him in the back of the carriage once more and headed off.
In her home in Boston, she kept him chained to a wall in the basement for the first month. Fearful that if he was free, he would run and kill himself like the others, Maria and her kept bringing him blood by glasses to get him stronger, and finally Maria cut his bonds and took him out into the night. For the first time, betraying Phoebe.
Phoebe was furious and banished Maria, who returned to Mathew. In weeks, they returned to help Phoebe control her pet American. His temper was out of control, he smashed every mirror in her home and had eaten her poodle. When they arrived, neither expected to see what they found. The man in question sitting prim and proper yet completely spaced out. Phoebe started using her abilities on him to keep his temper down and him under her control.
Matt saw him as something his sister had broken that he could fix. She saw him as her pet.
The moment Mathew and her new husband met, they were around one another when she did not demand his company. As the years passed it became clear that Phoebe was not teaching her child anything, also that she had not gotten permission to embrace, making her and her childe outlaws. It also did not help that together they were killing countless people, Dorian, who was using Alexander as his name, usually under her mind control, sent in with an ax and the girls following.
These activities were kept from Matthew's eyes, and Alexander was constantly reminded in the morning when he had to sleep beside Phoebe that her brother would kill him if he knew these things…. And then she started to leave. Alexander had hurt her feelings just after his 100th birthday, she had introduced herself as 'Mrs. Carver' and he chased her around the yard with a kitchen knife screaming bloody murder. If not for Mathew kicking him and putting his boot down on Alexander's throat, Phoebe would have been killed. So she packed up and went to Paris.
She had found a lover there, who she did not care that she was mad. She knew her childe were suffering in America without her. The level of blood bond she kept him at caused misery for him if they were apart. She felt he would learn his lesson and be a good husband when she returned. However, after four years traveling back and forth, he only grew to hate her more.
Finally, in 1846, she returned to Boston one last time. Alexander was horribly sweet to her the whole first night, he had left her alone with Maria for a while to speak to her brother, and she thought little of it. Just happy for happiness all around. When they got home, she was in for more of a shock as Dorian coaxed her upstairs. For the first time in 5 years, they laid together and just spoke once the act was done, then everything took a turn for the worst when he asked, why him.
A fight started, and a knife was plunged into her chest, and slashed across her throat. He kept stabbing until her until he could break the bones to get her heart. She finally met her true death when he crushed her heart, dropping an oil lantern on her corpse to make sure she didn't heal.
